Planting Instructions for New Lawns

  1. Cultivate the soil to a depth of 3 to 4 inches (7.6cm to 10cm)
  2. A soft, moist soil with a warm environment is best for seed growing. Rake the soil, break up all clods and remove the debris and rocks.
  3. Broadcast seed mixture uniformly. If using a spreader set at indicated dial on chart.
  4. Lightly rake seeds to make sure seeds reach into the soil to a depth of 1/4 inch (0.64cm).
  5. Water thoroughly with light spray frequently. Soil must be kept moist until the new lawn is well rooted. Don't wash seeds away.
  6. Do not mow lawn until grass reaches 3 inches (7.6cm) in height.
  7. Seed rate: 1.1lb per 250 sq ft. (500g per 23.25m2)

Restoring a Lawn

  1. Mow as close as possible.
  2. Rake out all dead and dry grass (thatch), cuttings and debris.
  3. Broadcast seeds uniformly at recommended seed rate.
  4. Rake lawn to ensure seeds have reached the soil.
  5. Water daily with a light spray and keep the soil moist until first mowing.
  6. When grass reaches 2.5 inches (6.35cm) mow to 2 inches (5.08cm) like brand new lawn.
  7. Seed rate: 1.1lb per 500 sq. ft. (500g per 46.50m2).

Note: a fertiliser is recommended a few weeks after the seeds have started to grow to ensure early start and healthy growth.

Provado Lawn Grub Killer(Reference #LC-011)
What lawns have been dying for!

Immediate action - stops grubs freeding straight away.
Season long control from one application.
1 pack treats 100 sq. m of lawn.
Children and pets need not be excluded from treated areas.
Does not harm beneficial organisms such as earthworms.

Contains 5% w/w imidacloprid as a wettable granule.
One sachet contains a 3g dose which treats 10 sq. m of lawn.

SYMPTOMS

Unsightly yellowing, brown or dead patches on the lawn. Loose turf is a sure sign of serious infestation. Animals and birds searching for grubs as food can cause secondary damage.

APPLICATION

One sachet is mixed with 9 litres of water in a watering can fitted with a coarse rose or sprinkler bar. It should be stirred well and used immediately. The treatment should be applied evenly to the lawn during the early evening, and then watered in (5 to 15mm of rainfall is sufficient or 5 to 15 litres of water per square metre). Over-watering should be avoided.

CHAFER GRUBS

Chafer grubs are the larvae of Chafer beetles or 'Maybugs'. Commonly found in sandy or chalky soils. Beetles emerge from the soil during May onwards and being laying their eggs. Grubs over-winter in the lawn and become active the next spring once frosts stop and the temperature rises.

For best results use the product preventatively during the egg laying stage (May/June) to control young grubs and prevent damage.

LEATHERJACKETS

Leatherjackets are the larvae of Crane flies or "Daddy Long Legs". Found in most soils but especially heavy clays. Adults develop from the pupae in late summer. The females mate within 24 hours and begin laying up to 300 eggs each. Approximately two weeks later, the eggs hatch and the grubs begin to feed on the grass roots. The grubs lie dormant in the soil over winter before becoming active again the following spring.

For best results apply the product from mid August to the end of September when the eggs start to hatch.
